Isométrica; hexaoctaédrica. Comumente, os cristais são octaédricos, raramente mostrando as faces dodecaedro, do cubo trapezoedro . Muitas vezes, em grupos de cristais arborescentes, alongados na direção de um eixo de simetria ternário, ou achatados paralelamente a uma face octaedro. A cristalização do ouro dá-se em diversas formas, como: agragados geminados ou reticulados; dendrítica, arborescente, filiforamos; esponjosa; capilar; pepitas; placas; escamas; lâminas; palhetas; ramos e partículas finíssimas (Berbet,1988 in DNPM). Raramente, mostra formas de cristal; usualmente, em placas, escamas ou massas irregulares (Dana, 1974).
